• Sharing my Animal Crossing island with my girlfriend

I've been playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons for a while now and I've been loving every moment spent on my peaceful island, however, there's something that's been bothering me for a while. Something that at first I was excited for and happy with but as the days passed it really started to annoy me. And what's that you may ask? It's sharing my Animal Crossing Island with my girlfriend.

In case you don't know, Animal Crossing: New Horizons only allows one island per system which means that if you create a different account on your Nintendo Switch the person using it will just be a new resident on the main account's island. In terms of gameplay, the secondary account can do almost anything the main account does, however you'll be locked out of the main quests that push the development of your island further.

Still, we managed to strike a balance by talking to each other for every major decision in the game like where should the Museum go or where should we put our new residents. Also, we managed to agree on who would do the daily island chores like shaking the trees, digging up the fossils and hitting the rocks.

However, not everything was perfect since from time to time she would complain that everything that she wanted to donate to the museum was already donated by me. Also, I would be in big trouble if I removed anything from the perimeter of her house!

Still, we got along and it was fun having her on my island. What really started bothering me was feeling that my Nintendo Switch wasn't just mine anymore! I had to share it and it's been a long time since I've had to share any of my consoles. If I recall correctly the last console I had to share was my PS2 with my younger brother, so it's not something that I'm used to.

Also, all those reasons are valid for my girlfriend as well. She's also being forced to share my Nintendo Switch and my island and I think she deserves having the full New Horizons experience. So, I decided to buy her a Nintendo Switch with a copy of Animal Crossing: New Horizons!

What's funny about this is that I told her that I would buy her one if she wanted to but she kept saying that she didn't want one because she had mine, but I knew that deep down she really wanted one. So, her reaction to me actually ordering one was priceless! She just couldn't believe it and was so happy! Now, both of us finally enjoy our time in our own islands.

So, sharing my Animal Crossing island with my girlfriend wasn't and maybe buy another Nintendo Switch was a bit too much. But now there's a brand new Nintendo Switch Lite in the house and  I have mine all to myself now. I'm happy and my girlfriend is happier and that's all that matters!
